こんにちは(konnichiwa) (Japan)

The boys, especially T, has had a lot of fun saying hello in Hindi and Japanese. The bowing makes it much more exciting than a hand shake for a boy.  Ha.

Some of the topics we discussed  were:

  • Japan is an archipelago made up of over 3000 islands.
  • Over 70% of Japan is covered in mountains.
  • Many of our cars and every day items (such as our Samsung TV) were made in Japan.
  • Japan is completely surrounded by water.
  • Little meat is included in their diet.
  • Discussed how they use nets to fish.
  • What the Itsukushima Torii Shrine is and made our own out of play-doh!

We tried so hard for it to actually stand, but I think it wouldn't because it was cheap play-doh

Painting our Koinobori  (wind sock kites that are displayed on Children's Day. May 5th)

TIME FOR SUSHI! (of course)...I surprisingly tried  A LOT and didn't mind it that much. I couldn't eat it all the time, but I honestly didn't think it tasted as bad as I thought it did.

Revolving table. We grabbed a plate that we wanted to taste. Each color of plate was priced differently. It was a pretty cool place!

Trying his very best to taste some of it all.

None of them were fans.

C hard at work:

What a goofy little Tiger.  LOL

Story of the World:

We kind of a took a little break on our history lessons, but we got back into them this week and had so much fun. We reviewed Creation, Adam and Eve and moved onto the first Americans.

We discussed:
  • nomads: one who wanders from place to place
  • what nomads ate
  • where nomads lived
  • why nomads moved from place to place
  • drawings on the cave walls showed us that people lived there
  • how nomads became farmers and learned to do things on their own
  • the fertile crescent

Boys were very excited when I surprised them with allowing them to create their own "tent" that they would sleep in that night as the nomads did.

Ummm....where will you fit exactly?

Right here mom! It's ok!

Ok, daddy made it a bit better, but it still was not going to work.

still trying...

We had it much better, but these nomads ended up having to wander elsewhere because an animal (AKA as little brother) destroyed their other tent. Little brother was banished to his own room and these two ended up in another room with a whole different tent. I guess they got the full experience of living life as a nomad. LOL

Cave Drawings!

As always, it was a fun and busy week!! We are off to Israel this week. :)
