नमस्ते namastē (India)

We began our study of India at a friends home enjoying a nice dinner made from their friends who grew up in India. The food was a little spicy for our taste (well all of ours, but Kirby's), but despite that it actually was quite good! The boys enjoyed watching her make the chipati's over the fire (also known as roti) which is a staple bread in Northern India.

K was pretty intrigued by it all. Fun experience for him.

We didn't get a great picture of it, but here she is making  chipati's over the fire. It was so cool. I would have burnt it if I tried!

Doing well, tasting the food.

We had a question and answer time, in which we came with prepared questions. Some of the questions derived from a quick discussion we had prior to arriving.

T's questions:

1. Are their dogs?
2. How do you train elephants? (We had talked about how they use elephants to help them carry the heavy things).
3. (ugh...I can't find the paper they wrote which means I can't remember his 3rd question. :( )

K's questions:

1. How does a turbin feel?
2. Did you own a car when you lived in India? (We had discussed that only the rich have cars and most of the people travel by train. After we left, we discovered that they also use camels to travel!)
3. Why did you move here?

Science Curriculum:  This week we continued our study of Mammals and took a look at cheetah's, elephants and lions!

For each animal, we also discuss which day they were created on, Day 5 or Day 6?

Our Family of Elephants

They are some pretty cute Cheetah's. Did you know the black line around their eyes protects it from the sun? I didn't! God really did take care of every detail.

Notebooking Pages

We have incorporated Draw Write Now into our curriculum. It's been fun learning how to draw all the animals. Especially since they both love to draw.

Carsten's Letter of the Week T:

He cut this tail out all by himself. I am so surprised at how well he caught onto cutting.

He definitely knows how to spell his name now!

Busy Reading:

During our week waiting for his Reading program, K worked on antonyms, synonyms and homophones.
