Author, Author What do you do?

Author, Author what do you do?
I write the words in the book for you.

Illustrator, Illustrator what do you do?
I draw the pictures in the book for you.

K has gladly shared this fun song he learned in his Wed classes with us here at home. We now sing this quite often before we begin a read aloud. My boys, today, decided to be authors themselves.

We had a day at home today as my boys have been battling little colds and T was complaining of a sore throat. With all this yucky stuff going around, we chose to stay home the past couple days and rest. I decided to get some cleaning caught up around the house this morning, while the boys quietly entertained themselves. I was quite pleased with what they decided to do.

I knew that they were working on some type of art/drawing project, as this is what they love to do quite often lately, but didn't know the creativity that was truly being put into this little project. At one point K was looking for a location to put a book they were working on so that he didn't lose it, but it didn't cross my mind on what kind of book they were creating.

After the completion of their book, K, very proud of himself, comes into my room to show me his book. "Mom, T and I made a book, and look, there are the authors!!"

Enjoy !!!!

The Girl Swimming in the Water
Written and illustrated by K and T

Cover: authors included and all (and they stapled it together like a book by themselves.)
Pg 1: Where is the water? (He told me that I had to guess which picture was supposed to be the water."
Pg 2: The girls is smiling.

Pg 3: Do you see the person in the hair? (There are three people and I had to choose which one he was referring to. )

I couldn't stop smiling about this whole project. I LOVED everything about it. We have colored books and written in books, but have not actually spent the time to create a book of our own like this. I've wanted to, we just haven't. So the creativity of doing this on their own was so exciting to me.

I loved that instead of playing video games or playing separately they chose to work together and create an extremely fun book!! I loved that they took ownership over it and worked together on it! K was quick to point out which pictures T created. It was not selfish in anyway!

I will treasure this forever.
